The University operates a Psychological Service that provides professional psychological and pedagogical support to students at all levels of higher education. The Service’s activities are aimed at preserving and strengthening students’ psychological well-being, facilitating their successful adaptation to academic conditions, and improving the effectiveness of the educational process. The specialists of the Service provide individual counseling on academic difficulties, interpersonal relationships, emotional tension, stress-related conditions, and personal development. Preventive psychological work is also carried out to avoid maladaptive conditions, emotional burnout, and anxiety, as well as to develop self-regulation skills, stress resilience, and constructive behavior.
The Service conducts psychodiagnostic activities and organizes trainings, seminars, and educational programs aimed at developing students’ psychological culture, effective communication skills, stress management abilities, and adaptation to academic workload.
Special attention is given to supporting first-year students during their adaptation period and to assisting international students. This includes support in sociocultural adaptation, overcoming language and communication difficulties, and reducing stress associated with studying in a new educational and social environment.
The Psychological Service cooperates with academic advisors, faculty members, and structural divisions of the University in order to foster a favorable socio-psychological climate. The Service’s work is based on the principles of confidentiality, voluntary обращения, and professional ethics.
Inclusive Education
“SMU” NJSC implements the principles of inclusive education by ensuring the development of an accessible, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students, regardless of their individual characteristics and educational needs. The University is developing a system that provides opportunities to adapt teaching and assessment formats, ensures readiness to create a barrier-free environment, and enables the use of special technical aids when necessary.
Psychological and pedagogical support is provided to students, aimed at facilitating their adaptation, maintaining psychological well-being, preventing stress-related conditions, and developing effective learning skills.
The University conducts systematic work with the faculty on issues of inclusive education, fostering respectful attitudes toward students’ individual characteristics, and preventing discrimination. An inclusive culture based on the principles of tolerance, mutual respect, and zero tolerance for bullying is being formed at the University. Taking into account the specifics of a medical university, organizational readiness is ensured to provide medical and social support to students when necessary.
The inclusive approach is regarded as an important direction in the development of the University’s educational policy.
