The Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases was organized in 1955 on the basis of the 1st City Hospital of Semipalatinsk. From 1961 to 1974, the department was based in the railway hospital of the city, and from 1974 to the present, the main clinical base of the department is the city hospital No. 2 (the former medical unit of the meat processing plant).
The following worked as heads of the department in different years: Spivak R.Ya. (1955 – 1957), Rakhmanova A.M. (1957 – 1690), Weinzweig P.M. (1961 – 1971), Babaeva E.K. (1971 – 1976), Zverev M.E. (1977 – 1989), Sagandykov B.B. (1990 – 1997), Zhumambayeva R.M. (1997-2014), Dautov D.Kh. (2014 – 2020). Currently, the department is headed by Ph.D. Amrenova K.Sh.
The main discipline taught at the department is propaedeutics of internal diseases (3 course, general medicine). In addition, students of the 2nd year of OM, 3rd year of the specialty “Dentistry”, 3.5th year of the specialty “Pharmacy” study at the department.
The main directions of scientific activity of the department in different years were – the study of hypertension, opisthorchiasis, rheumatism, hormones of the adrenal cortex in rheumatism, laser therapy in the clinic of internal diseases, etc.
The employees of the department perform medical work in the therapeutic, gynecological and neurological departments of the city hospital No. 2, and also conduct outpatient appointments and consultations in the city’s polyclinics.
The department has repeatedly won prizes in the university rankings for educational and methodological work and the introduction of innovative teaching methods in medical education.
