On October 13, 2022, students of the curatorial group 5430 of the Faculty of General Medicine (Department of Infectious Diseases, Dermatovenerology and Immunology of SMU, NCJSC) made an excursion to Polkovnichiy Island. This island is one of the main attractions of the city of Semey. During its long history, it has gone through different periods. The good news is that a favorite vacation spot with a rich past is gradually being put in order. On the island, the guys visited the alley with the memorial “Stronger than death”, which was erected in memory of the victims of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site.

Before the island, the students crossed the bridge leading to Polkovnichiy Island. The children enjoyed the fresh air, feeling the untouched nature and the silence of the forest. An excursion around the walking area on the island is available to everyone, because it is a very good place for recreation and tourism.
