At the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dermatovenerology and Immunology of SMU, NCJSC continues active work on the prevention of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza among the population of Semey. On October 14, 2022, the seminar “ARVI, influenza. Etiology, epidemiology, clinic, diagnostics, treatment and prevention.
Students of group 5403 of the Faculty of General Medicine (the curatorial group of the department) highlighted the epidemiological situation of influenza-like diseases in the world and in our region. Infectionists made a report on the clinic of seasonal influenza, and the clinical features of pandemic influenza were reported separately. It was noted that in pandemic influenza, the highest incidence is recorded among young and middle-aged people, there is a high probability of a severe course of infection, a high frequency of early (viral) pneumonia, and a high risk of developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with early development of respiratory failure.
A separate lecture was presented on the topic: “Influenza and pregnancy”, which covered the issues of clinical manifestations of influenza, ARVI and special instructions for antiviral therapy in pregnant women.
