On February 08, 2023, the Department of Stomatological Disciplines and Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dentistry and Pharmacy of the SMU, NCJSC celebrated the International Day of the Dentist with a curatorial hour. The event was attended by 4th year dental students and 2nd and 3rd year students who were free from their dentistry classes.

Associate Professor Suleimeneva D.M., Head of the Department of Stomatological Disciplines and MFS, opened the event with a warm welcome speech. She congratulated the future dental professionals, students, interns, and the entire stomatological community of the Abai region and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Dentist’s Day. She wished the students health, successful studies, decent behavior, respect, and a beautiful and healthy smile to everyone.

The senior operative of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the DP region Abai, police Major Espayeva G.S., head of the treatment and prevention department of the AIDS Center Mamyrbekova N.R., and the deputy dean of the School of Dentistry and Pharmacy, Nurmadieva G.T., also attended the curatorial hour.

Police Major Espayeva G.S. gave a presentation and a video was shown on psychotropic synthetic substances (spices) and the criminal liability involved in their distribution and storage. Mamyrbekova N.R., the head of the treatment and prevention department of the AIDS Center, reported on the primary signs of HIV and AIDS, explained in detail the ways of transmission, and stressed the importance of prevention and compliance with the sanitary regime for dentists, who are at risk.

Finally, Head of the Department Suleimeneva D.M. and Deputy Dean Nurmadieva G.T. emphasized the importance of ethics, deontology, and norms of behavior within the university and at clinical bases. They also discussed academic performance, discipline, and internal regulations and policies.
