On April 29, 2023, a regional Olympiad in chemistry was held at NJSC “MUS” among graduate students of schools in the Abay region, organized by the Department of Biochemistry and Chemical Disciplines named after Professor Tapbergenov S.O., together with the Department of “Medical foundation”.
The purpose of this Olympiad was to attract and stimulate the interest of a wide range of graduates of 11th grade students of the region interested in the profession of a doctor, to identify gifted children entering natural science specialties. Before the start of the Olympiad, the guest of the event, Acting Director of the municipal state institution Regional Innovation and Methodological Center “of the Department of Education of the Region, Abai Isabayeva Ainur Sergalievna, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the conference (also present were the head of the innovative department of education Toleubayeva Gaukhar Toleubaykyzy, the head of the innovative design department Nurgaliyeva Gaukhar Yessenovna ). The students of the Faculty of Pharmacy shared their experience of studying at the university and congratulated all the participants of the Olympiad with the choice of their future profession and all the participants of the Olympiad were congratulated by the acting head department Olzhayeva Rauza Romanovna.
The Olympiad was held in two rounds in the form of written testing and problem solving. The tests included questions from the high school chemistry curriculum. Written testing consisted of 30 test questions of I, II, III levels of complexity of the above sections of the program. The written round of the Olympiad was held for 80 minutes, without a break.
Notification of students of the region and methodological support was provided by the Department of Education of the Abai region. 70 graduates of the Kazakh branch and 17 graduates of the Russian branch participated in the Olympiad.

All the winners were awarded with diplomas, and the participants of the Olympiad with certificates and chemistry teachers with letters of thanks.
Chemistry Olympiad allows assessing the quality of students’ educational preparation in the subject and identifying the type of giftedness of its participants for further admission and creative growth within the walls of a higher educational institution.
