From June 5 to June 16, 2023, in order to improve the training of residency students, as well as to share knowledge and develop practice “from resident to resident”, in the following specialties: 7R01109 “Rheumatology for adults, children”, 7R01145 “Traumatology-orthopedics for adults, children”, a Summer School on Rheumatic-Orthopedics was held, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Semey Medical University, NCJSC (Order No. 232 dated 06/05/2023). Responsible for the organization and conduct of the Summer School: c.m.s., acting Professor of the Department of Internal Diseases and Rheumatology Goremykina M.V., and Doctor of Medicine, Head of the Department of Traumatology and Pediatric Surgery Zhanaspaev M.A.

The departments developed a Syllabus in the amount of 3 credits (90 hours), which reflects the final results of training and a list of practical skills necessary for the future collaboration of rheumatologists and orthopedic traumatologists.

This event was held in a format that is already traditional for the departments – the possibility of the presence of resident rheumatologists at operations on total knee and hip replacement surgeries, arthroscopic operations; Resident traumatologists were present at outpatient appointments with a rheumatologist, as well as during local injection therapy for comorbid patients in rheumatological practice. Interdisciplinary issues of managing patients with articular syndrome in real clinical practice were discussed; modern possibilities of medical and surgical treatment.

At the end of the School, certificates of participation were awarded to residents , positive feedback was received from both residents and teachers.
