On August 29, 2023, a working meeting was held within the walls of the University Hospital of NJSC “Semey Medical University” (UG “SMU”, NCJSC) in the presence of the chief rheumatologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences G.A. Togizbaeva, with a board of rheumatologists in Semey, with representatives of primary health care in Semey with the participation of the Deputy Head of the Health Department of the Abai region Tanatarova G.N., where the most relevant aspects of the rheumatological service of the Abay region were considered.
During the meeting, the chief rheumatologist of the Health Department of the region, Abai Zhandarbekova B.B., presented an analysis of the rheumatological service of the region, where she noted that there is no shortage of personnel among rheumatologists in the region, but in recent years the number of “new” cases of rheumatic diseases has been growing, especially after transferred Covid-19 infection. So, in 2021, 5010 patients with rheumatic diseases were registered at the dispensary, and already in 2022 – 6411.
The main attention is paid to the issue of creating a rheumatology center (RC) on the basis of the UG “SMU”, NCJSC, since its structure has a rheumatologist’s office for providing consultative and diagnostic assistance, a genetically engineered biological therapy room, an intra-articular manipulation room, as well as beds for a round-the-clock and day hospital stay. In addition, the RC includes a multidisciplinary team engaged in the selection of patients with rheumatic diseases for genetically engineered biological therapy.
At the same time, the main problems of the rheumatological service in the Abay region were analyzed, and further prospects for improving the quality of rheumatological service in our region were outlined.
In conclusion, Togizbaev G.A. noted that in our region it is the “Center of Best Practices” of domestic rheumatology, thanks to the teachings and instructions of MD, Honored Professor Ivanova R.L.
