Visit to the Local History Museum of Semey

Students of the foreign faculty, group 5133, with their mentor associate professor of the Department of General Medical Practice of Semey city Shalgumbayeva G.M., visited the Local History Museum of Semey. The museum is considered one of the largest and oldest museums in the entire territory of Kazakhstan. The students enjoyed the amazing and captivating world of the history of the city and the region. The museum exhibits consist of numerous items describing the life of the former city of Semipalatinsk and its culture. The museum’s collection comprises over a hundred thousand diverse exhibits in the fields of archaeology, ethnography, paleontology, numismatics, zoology, and mineralogy. The museum collection includes photo documents, natural-historical and historical-household items, manuscripts, overviews of the Semipalatinsk region, commemorative booklets, and address calendars. The museum exhibits are displayed in several different halls, covering a wide range of themes: “Paleontology and Geology,” “Archaeology and Ethnography,” “Nature of the Native Land,” “History of the City and Region,” “Semey in the Years of Independence,” “The Alash Movement and the City of Alash,” “Semey During World War II,” “Semey for a Nuclear-Free World,” and “Semey in the Years of Independence.” The excursion was conducted in English, and the guide delivered all the information at a highly professional level. The students expressed their gratitude to the museum staff for their hospitality and warm welcome.[/vc_column_text]
