In 2024, on February 21, a round table was held at Polyclinic No. 6 in Semey on the topic: “Diabetes mellitus, NAFLD and viral hepatitis,” the participants of which were general practitioners of Polyclinic No. 6. The round table speakers noted that in Kazakhstan, primary non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) among the population without concomitant pathologies was identified in 32.2%, NAFLD along with obesity in 25.8%, NAFLD with type 2 diabetes mellitus in 14.6% and also in 16% NAFLD is accompanied by chronic viral hepatitis.
Aliya Tulegenovna Abekova, an endocrinologist at polyclinic No. 6 in Semey, made a presentation “Diabetes mellitus – how to prolong life with diabetes.” The speaker focused on a balanced diet and increasing physical activity. During the round table, the participants were unanimous that it is within the framework of a multidisciplinary approach that it is possible to prevent fatty liver disease and diabetes.
