In the spring of 2024, Kazakhstan faced sustained large-scale impacts for more than 80 years, spring floods after heavy snowmelt. The most critical situation is in Atyrau, Aktobe, Akmola, Kostanay, East Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions. In flood zones, there are aggravating factors affecting the health of the population. The medical and sanitary characteristics of the foci of mass sanitary losses from diseases in flood areas have special features. Diseases such as anthrax, intestinal infections, zoonoses, and drip infections can develop in flood zones. To provide assistance to victims, early detection of infectious diseases among evacuees with symptoms (fever, rash, loose stools, cough, etc.) is necessary. Timely sorting of evacuees and proper routing. Creation of oral rehydration points. In order to prevent the development of infectious diseases, vaccination is carried out in the areas of deployment of temporary accommodation facilities. Provision of medical workers with PPE, preservation of their health and safety. Creation of the necessary stock of medicines and disinfectants, means of emergency prevention. Round-the-clock specialist duty. Conducting training seminars and lectures on infectious and especially dangerous diseases in medical organizations.
On April 29, interns of the 606 group held a round table with students and doctors of the infectious diseases hospital. The problems of providing medical assistance to flood victims were discussed.
