Meeting of the Clinical committee of the NCJSC «SMU» on the
«Tactics of management of patients with infected trophic ulcers and gangrene of the extremities»
On April 26, 2024, a meeting of the Clinical Committee was held in the white hall of the main building of the NCJSC “SMU”.
Acting Head of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery named after B. S. Bulanov, NCJSC “SMU” Merey Nuridenovich Imanbayev made a presentation on the topic: «Tactics of management of patients with infected trophic ulcers and gangrene of the extremities».

Despite significant advances in the modern treatment of occlusive diseases of the peripheral arteries, lower limb ischemia is still characterized by significant morbidity, the threat of limb loss, decreased quality of life and mortality.
Analysis of case histories has shown that in existing approaches to the management of patients with Critical ischemia of the lower extremities, insufficient attention is paid to patients with purulent-necrotic limb changes.
The meeting of the Clinical Committee was concluded by the Vice-rector for the clinic and Postgraduate Education Duman Berikuly, who decided:
1.It is necessary to send a letter to the Health Department about the opening of diabetic foot rooms according to the standard of care for diabetes mellitus.
- To develop criteria for hospitalization for gangrene of the lower extremities and infected trophic ulcers.
- Consider the possibility of opening purulent dressings for the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the University Hospital of the NCJSC “SMU”.
