Round table on the topic: “Tick-borne encephalitis”

On the basis of the plan of Saturday activities in the Houses of students of NСJSC “SMU” 11.05.24. in the House of Students №1, assistants Kumarbekova A.K., Smailov E.S. held a round table on the topic: “Tick-borne encephalitis”. During the round table, a presentation on etiology, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and natural foci in Kazakhstan with tick-borne encephalitis. How to protect yourself from tick bites and reduce the possible risk of tick-borne viral encephalitis, how to remove the tick, the basic principles of treatment and on vaccine prophylaxis against tick-borne encephalitis. A total of 17 students took part in the round table.

Tick-borne encephalitis is a severe neuroinfectious disease that leads to disability or death. The disease occurs as a result of human infection with a virus that enters the bloodstream when bitten by a tick. The problem of tick-borne encephalitis is very topical, given the “tick season”. In Kazakhstan, endemic for tick-borne encephalitis are East Kazakhstan region. 9 territories in Kazakhstan: Glubokovsky, Zaisansky, Zyryanovsky, Katon-Karagai, Kokpektinsky (Samara region), Ulansky, Shemonaikha districts, neighborhoods of Ridder and Ust-Kamenogorsk cities are natural foci.
