The problem of HIV infection in the world is caused by its widespread spread among all social strata of the population, in various age and ethnic groups. The seriousness of the situation is such that every year on the third Sunday in May, it is customary to remember people who died of AIDS in order to draw the attention of the world community to the problems of HIV patients and the spread of this disease. According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), HIV remains one of the main problems of global public health and to date it has claimed more than 35 million human lives. The lack of treatment for HIV leads to the inevitable depletion of the immune system. As a result, the body becomes vulnerable to one or more life-threatening diseases that normally do not develop in healthy people. This stage of HIV infection is called AIDS or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. The more severely the immune system is damaged, the higher the risk of death as a result of opportunistic infections.
