According to WHO, there were 39.9 million people living with HIV in the world in 2023; approximately 630,000 people died from HIV-related causes, and 1.3 million people became infected with HIV.
On November 31, 2024, associate professor of Public Health Tokesheva Sh.M. and teacher Beisengazina M.B. together with students of the curatorial groups of the specialty “Public Health” (401 and 301), a curatorial hour dedicated to World AIDS Day was held.
Aida Kazhybayeva, a student of the 401 group, presented a meaningful presentation on the topic, in which she provided statistical data on the spread of HIV/AIDS, as well as myths and facts related to this disease, AIDS prevention issues were also highlighted.
The students discussed the social stigma that still surrounds people living with HIV and the importance of informing society to combat bias. The students expressed a common opinion – the path leading to ending AIDS is the path of rights.
