On an ongoing basis, dean’s office carries out work with students of foreign department of “SMU” on the prevention of crimes and offenses. One of the activities is organizing meetings with employees of the migration service to conduct preventive conversations on current issues.
On January 10, 2025, a working meeting was held between students of the foreign department of bachelor’s degree and internship of Semey Medical University with employees of the migration service: Deputy Head of the Migration Service Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel Egiztayev Medet Asylbekovich and Senior Police Inspector of the Migration Service Department of the Police Department of the Abay Region, Police Captain Ibraeva Madina Meiramgazykyzy. The agenda included the following issues:
- Prevention of crimes and offenses committed by foreign citizens and against foreign citizens studying in SMU.
- Accommodation and registration in Semey: dormitory / rented housing.
- Analysis of cases of offenses committed by foreign citizens studying at SMU during the last quarter.
Particular attention was paid to the notification algorithm in case of various problems not related to the academic process. The importance of informing the dean’s office about any movements within the territory of Republic of Kazakhstan or beyond its borders was also noted. Regarding the choice of place of residence in Semey city during the period of study in the University for reasons of safety and maintaining discipline it was proposed to choose dormitories recommended by the University, with the owners of which there is a signed cooperation agreement. Present students were also reminded it is necessary to live at the place of registration.
The Rector’s assistant for the regime was invited to the meeting who told the children about the risks that arise when living in rented housing and being outside the place of residence at night, and noted the importance of focusing on studies – the main purpose of staying in Republic of Kazakhstan at the moment.
The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, openness to interaction and readiness to provide assistance were expressed and children received parting words and wishes for success in their studies.
