Ludomania (or gambling addiction) is a pathological attraction to gambling. Ludomania has serious consequences for a person’s personal and social life: loss of trust among loved ones, serious financial and psychological problems. Young people immerse themselves in the world of gambling for the sake of the thirst for “easy” money, trying to escape reality, due to constant stress. No one is immune from gambling addiction, and a person from any social class and life position can fall into their trap.
On February 18, 2025, at the Department of Biochemistry and Chemical Disciplines named after Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S.O. Tapbergenov, under the guidance of the curator of the department K.T. Sydykova and students of group 214 of the specialty “Dentistry”, a curator’s hour was held on the topic: “Ludomania among young people”. The purpose of this event is to familiarize students with the causes of gambling addiction and areas of work on its prevention, as well as to consider ways to protect themselves from gambling addiction. The students prepared a presentation, showed a video and actively engaged in the discussion, showing a lively and genuine interest in the topic.
The students came to the conclusion that in case of life problems, in no case should they try to drown them out with gambling, but should contact a specialist who will support and provide real help.
