On February 24, 2025, in group 4215 of the specialty “General Medicine,” a curatorial hour was held on the topic “Ludomania: gambling addiction and its prevention.” The curator of the event was the assistant of the Department of Traumatology and Pediatric Surgery A.D. Zharkimbaeva.
During the curatorial hour, students became familiar with the concept of “gambling addiction”, its causes and consequences. The psychological and social aspects of gambling addiction and its similarities with other types of addictions, such as drug addiction and alcoholism, were discussed. Particular attention was paid to risk factors and mechanisms for the formation of pathological cravings for gambling.

At the end of the curator’s hour, recommendations were given for the prevention of gambling addiction, including control over one’s own emotions, a conscious attitude towards money, the development of healthy hobbies and rejection of a provoking environment.
The lesson was held in the format of a live dialogue, promoting awareness of the seriousness of the problem and the formation of a responsible attitude towards this topic among students.
