Winter school “Modern aspects of cardio-endocrinology” at the Department of Therapy

In recent years, there has been a tendency to increase the number of patients with several chronic diseases, especially among patients with cardiology and endocrinology profiles. Comorbidity (the presence of two or more diseases in a patient at the same time) is a significant medical problem that requires an integrated approach to diagnosis and treatment. One of the most relevant categories of such patients are cardio-endocrinological patients who have a combination of heart and endocrine diseases. And the motto of past years “Treat the patient, not the disease!” is becoming increasingly relevant. In order to improve the training of students in residency, the staff of the Department of Therapy of the Semey Medical University, assistants Sarsebaeva G.S. and Orekhov A.Yu. organized a winter school “Modern Aspects of Cardio-Endocrinology”. From February 17 to 21, 2025, residents of 1, 2, 3 courses in the specialties “Adult and Pediatric Cardiology” and 1, 2 courses “Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology” were involved in the discussion of the most significant problems in the diagnosis and treatment of comorbid patients. Thus, modern data on various aspects of cardiovascular diseases and endocrine pathology were presented. During the event, feedback was received from students who highly appreciated this interdisciplinary format in education.
