In order to conduct career guidance work on admission to the residency on March 12, 2025 at the clinical base of the regional center of phthisiopulmonology of the region Abay at the department of children’s infectious diseases, under the guidance of the head of the department Efendiyev I.M. held The “Open Day” on the specialty of residency “Infectious diseases (adult, children)” for interns of the final year. The event was held in a mixed format.
The event was opened by the head of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases Efendiyev I.M. Imdat Musaevich focused the attention of the interns on the demand for the profession of an infectious disease specialist for adults, children, that training in this specialty is the integration of theory, practice and science. Education takes place in two departments: children’s infectious diseases, also infectious diseases, immunology and dermatovenereology. The clinical bases of residency are infectious diseases and children’s infectious diseases hospitals/departments in Semey, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Pavlodar. The speaker began his speech with the history of the two departments. Admission to residency in the residency specialty “Infectious diseases for adults, children” has been carried out since 2010. Specialty in 2015 and 2021 accredited by an international agency. Residents are taught by professors, associate professors, doctors and candidates of medical sciences, assistants with the highest and first category, practical work is supervised by clinical mentors – experienced doctors with the highest and first category, as well as with more than 5 years of experience. Residents actively master scientific competencies (write abstracts, articles, make scientific reports at republican and international conferences) and competencies for preventive work (publications and appearances on television). For the period from 2010 to 2024, 60 graduates were trained, three of them received a PhD degree, sevens are in charge of the adult / children’s infectious diseases departments in Pavlodar and Ust-Kamenogorsk, the rest of the graduate’s work at the Semey and Astana Medical University, also infectious disease doctors (adults / children) in polyclinics and hospitals in the cities of Semey, Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk and in the regions of the region.
Most of the time during training, residents work in the departments of clinical bases, master practical skills directly at the bedside of patients under the guidance of clinical mentors.
Mukhutdinova G.H., head of the department of airborne infections, spoke on behalf of employers, followed by Baltabek A.K., a 2024 graduate of the residency, who is now the head of the admissions and diagnostic department. Resident of the 2nd year of specialty “Infectious Diseases (adult, pediatric)” made a speech about her impressions about training in the residency program Saparjan A.E.
In conclusion, the interns expressed their deep gratitude to Imdat Musaevich, the staff of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases for the friendly and warm welcome. The interns assured that they would definitely enter the residency program in the specialty “Infectious diseases for adults and children” in August of this year.
