Round table on “Robotics in medicine”

On March 13, 2025, a round table on the topic “Robotics in Medicine” was held at the Department of Hospital Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Resuscitation of the NCJSC “Semey Medical University”, interns of the 619 group of general practitioners. Under the guidance of a PhD lecturer in the discipline of Surgery, Acting Associate Professor Medet Auуenov Auуenuly.

The first medical robots, which appeared on April 11, 1985, contributed to revolutionary changes in the work of doctors and the speed of recovery of patients. Thus, the robotic complexes of that time allowed doctors to achieve extreme accuracy in the process of complex surgical intervention in cardiothoracic surgery. The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has stimulated the improvement of medical robots, expanding the possibilities of their use in healthcare. The robots’ first task was to assist surgeons in the operating room. Today, robotic assistive systems for surgical operations are becoming more commonplace.

The round table discussed modern achievements in the field of medical robotics, their application in surgery, anesthesiology and intensive care, as well as prospects for further development of this field. Interns presented reports, demonstrated video materials and discussed the impact of robotic technologies on the quality of medical care and patient safety.

This round table on “Robotics in Medicine” allowed interns to expand their knowledge of modern technologies, develop analytical and critical thinking skills, and deepen their interest in scientific activities in the field of medicine.

Head of the Department of Hospital Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, MD. Professor Aimagambetov Meyrbek Zhaksybekovich and MD., Professor of the Department Bulegenov Tolkyn Alpysbaevich gave comments on the prospects for the development and implementation of robotics in surgical practice.
