Culture and National Traditions

On March 17, as part of the “Nauryznama Onkunligi” event held at the Pediatrics and Medical Rehabilitation Department of the “Toqtamys” Children’s Polyclinic, a round table on the topic “Culture and National Traditions” was organized under the guidance of the department head c.m.s. Alimbaeva A.R. and the departmental assistant Daibekov E.E., with the participation of first- and second-year FMR residents.

During the round table, Alimbaeva A.R. and Daibekov E.E. discussed the significance, cultural nuances, and values of the traditions handed down from our ancestors. In particular, they emphasized that the tradition of “Azan Shakyryp At Koyu” holds a special place in our culture. Throughout the discussion, Daibekov E.E. demonstrated and taught the residents how to correctly perform this ritual.

After the round table, the residents, drawing on the knowledge they had acquired, staged a performance at Toqtamys. The purpose of the performance was to introduce the Kazakh tradition of “Azan Shakyryp At Koyu.” When a baby was born, family members would invite relatives, friends, and neighbors to a large gathering. At this event, the head of the household, an elder, or the local imam was invited to recite the azan and perform the naming ritual for the baby. First, the elder or imam, standing on the baby’s right side, recited the azan, after which the chosen name for the baby was pronounced three times near the right ear. Subsequently, a prayer was recited for the baby, and the parents along with the relatives offered their best wishes and blessings.

Promoting and preserving such traditions of the Kazakh people is one of the special initiatives aimed at instilling the spiritual values and cultural heritage of our nation in future generations.

The Department of Pediatrics and Medical Rehabilitation expresses its gratitude to Semey Medical University for organizing such significant events.
