On March 13-14, 2025, the II Kazakhstan Neonatal Symposium “Böbek” was held at the University Medical Center clinics. The event was attended by about 500 medical specialists, healthcare workers, doctors, young professionals and professors. The symposium was held in a hybrid format (offline, online). The program included presentations by speakers and experts from different regions, countries of the near and far abroad, who shared their experience in caring for premature babies, prescribing parenteral nutrition, prevention, the use of new methods of diagnosis and treatment of newborns, problems and prospects for the development of neonatology. The workshops examined the practical aspects of parenteral nutrition and basic skills of cardiac echocardiography in newborns, presenting clinical cases from practice.
The symposium was attended by resident neonatologists for 2nd years of study under the guidance of the head teacher of the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Rehabilitation named after D.M. Tusupova, neonatologist Alibekova Bakytzhan Alibekovna. Over the course of two days, the symposium participants received a large amount of knowledge in neonatology and neonatal surgery from leading specialists in our country, near and far abroad, exchanged practical experience in managing newborns, participated in debates, and received answers to their questions. Among the speakers were T.K. Chuvakova, the founder of neonatal services in the Republic of Kazakhstan, MD, Professor K.K. Dzhaksylykova, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Oslo Ola Didrik Saugstad (Norway), Professor at Vilnius University Arunas Liubsis (Lithuania), Professor and Head of the Department of Neonatology at Xi’an Jiaotong University Liu Li (China), PhD, Member of the Council of the Russian Society of Neonatologists M.Ye. Prutkin (Russia) and others. Participation in such a large-scale event provided an opportunity for in-depth study of modern achievements in the field of neonatology, and also opens the door to new opportunities in scientific and practical activities.
