In honor of the National Sports Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is celebrated on March 20, the Department of Hospital Surgery, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the NCJSC «SMU» held competitions in traditional sports – «Archery» and «Asyk Atu» among the faculty of the department and doctors of the department.
The competition was organized by Acting Associate Professor of the Department of Hospital Surgery, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, MD.PhD, Medet Auyenov and Abdrakhmanov Samatbek Turysbekovich, curatorial group 5426 and group 4316 of the Faculty of General Medicine.
«Asyk atu» is one of the oldest national games of the Kazakh people. National games were often formed depending on the socio-economic conditions and economic activities of the peoples.
Most of the traditional games of the Kazakh people were based on the use of natural materials. Since the Kazakh economy was connected with cattle breeding, their games were also adapted to this. Especially many games relate to sheep, since the Kazakhs were engaged in their breeding. That is why «Asyk Atu» is one of the oldest and most popular games of the Kazakh people. This game helps to develop precision, dexterity and endurance in children, and trains the nervous system from an early age.
«Archery» is one of the ancient arts passed down from nomadic peoples and took its special place in the traditions of the Kazakhs. In the history of the Kazakhs, there were many famous archers who were excellent at using a bow and arrow, as can be seen from the batyr epics and stories. In modern times, archery is used mainly in hunting and in sports competitions. The bow and arrow have become integral attributes of the Kazakhs, who used them for hunting and in military operations. It is also known that the equipment of a Kazakh warrior always included arrows, and they never missed, no matter how difficult the target was.
Concluding the competition, the head of the department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Aimagambetov Meirbek Zhaksybekovich awarded the winners with diplomas, medals and cups. He thanked everyone for their active participation.
