Education
He graduated with honors from Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy in 2000. In 2001, he completed his medical internship in Surgery.
He completed his studies in “Foreign language: two foreign languages” specialty and graduated from Kaynar University in 2005.
2012-2015 – PhD studies at the Department of Cardiac-Vascular Surgery of the E. N. Meshalkin National Medical Research Center under Novosibirsk State Medical University, Russian Federation.
Work experience
After completing the internship, as the best graduate, Altay Dyussupov became the Assistant of the course of Disaster Medicine to teach the subject in English for international students. He is proficient in English and has 5,5 IELTS certificate (2019). From 2003 to 2007 – an assistant at the Department of Hospital Surgery of the SSMA. Since 2005 he has been practicing at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the University Hospital, vascular surgeon of the highest category. In May 2007, he was appointed as an assistant of the Rector of SSMA. On September 28, 2009, he was appointed as the Vice-Rector for Development and Organizational Issues of Semey State Medical University. On October 11, 2013 he was appointed as the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Clinical Work. On January 2018, he became the Professor of the Department of Surgical Internship. From September 2018 to September 2019, he worked as the Head of the Department of Faculty Surgery. New Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery was established in September 2019. Altay Dyussupov became the first Head of the Department. On December 8, 2021, by the decision of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Altay Dyussupov was appointed as the Chairman of the Board – Rector of NCJSC “Semey Medical University”.
Scientific activity
In 2007, he defended his candidate thesis on the topic: “Prevention of infectious complications of wounds around spokes in transosseous osteosynthesis of diaphyseal fractures of the tibia bones” in “Traumatology and Orthopedics” specialty at the Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Nur-Sultan, Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2017, he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic “Prevention of complications of surgical treatment of infrarenal aortic aneurysm” in “Cardiovascular Surgery” at E.N. Meshalkin National Medical Research Center, Novosibirsk, Russian Federation.
On January 19, 2018, by the Committee on Control in the Field of Education and Science of the MES RK, for the first time in the history of the University, bypassing the title of Associate Professor, Altay Dyussupov was awarded the title “Full Professor”.
1 PhD and 6 master’s theses were defended under the supervision of Altay Dyussupov. He is currently the supervisor of 3 PhD students of the “Medicine”.
He has over 100 scientific papers published, including 42 articles in journals recommended by the Committee for Control in the Sphere of Education and Science of MES RK; 21 articles in scientific journals of HAC of Russia and foreign countries; 9 articles in Thomson Reuters, Web of Science, including 3 articles with non-zero impact factor; 4 patents of the Russian Federation included in Thomson Reuters, Web of Science database; 8 patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 2 monographs: “Prevention of complications of surgical treatment of infrarenal aortic aneurysm” and “Algorithm of infusion and transfusion therapy of critical conditions”.
Altay Dyussupov is the holder of the grant for scientific research of the Fund of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev, the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan on the problems of infrarenal aneurysm of the abdominal aorta in 2012-2014. He is an author of the discovery “Lawful connection between the development of multiple organ failure and changes in the central venous pressure of the human body in a critical condition” (Diploma No. 457 of the International Academy of authors of scientific discoveries and inventions of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences). From 2015 to 2017, he implemented the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the problems of infusion therapy in critical states.

From March 2 to 4, 2011, Altay Dyussupov represented SMU at the Asia-Pacific Higher Education Quality Network conference in Bangalore, India. From April 27 to 29, 2013, he represented the University at the exhibition of higher education in Shanghai, China.
From November 26 to December 10, 2016, he attended a training course in emergency medicine at St. Louis University School of Medicine Hospital, Missouri, USA as the responsible person for the Development of Emergency Medicine within strategic partnership between SMU and SLU.
From November 24 to December 24, 2018, he had a clinical training on vascular surgery at Baskent University Hospital, Ankara, Turkey.
Altay Dyussupov is the Head of the projects for the development of Cardiac Surgery at SMU Hospital, benchmarking with the National Scientific Cardiovascular Surgery Center of Nur-Sultan, E.N. Meshalkin National Medical Research Center, Novosibirsk. Since April 3, 2013, cardiac surgery service has been functioning at SMU Hospital. The mortaity rate from cardiovascular pathology has been cut in half in Semey region.
