Ust-Kamenogorsk branch of Semey State Medical University was opened on 19.06.2018 on the basis of the Faculty of Additional Medical Education of Semey State Medical University, which was headed until August 2017 by Sultanbekov Zeynulla Kabdyshevich – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Human Ecology and Safety (MANEB, Russia).
Currently, the director of the branch has been appointed Candidate of medical Sciences, a doctor of the highest category in the organization of healthcare and neurology – Mukazhanova Aizhan Kumarkanovna, work experience of more than 26 years.
In 1996 she graduated from Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute with a degree in Pediatrics.
Deputy Dean – Aimukhambetov Erzat Nursadykovich, work experience of 16 years.
Ust-Kamenogorsk branch of the “Semey Medical University” NCJSC works in two directions: educational and therapeutic.
The branch has a hospital with 55 beds. The Department of Occupational Pathology (in Kazakhstan there are only 2 such departments for KMU and SMU) for 30 beds, endocrinology for 15 beds, therapy for 10 beds. And an advisory and diagnostic department serving inpatient departments. (there is an appendix to the license for medical care).
Since 2013, students have been trained in internships and residencies. At the moment, the contingent of students is 358 people: in internship – 187 people, in residency – 171 people. The residency is conducted in 30 specialties. The branch provides training of medical personnel in the specialty: general medicine, as well as retraining and advanced training on a budgetary and contractual basis.
The clinical bases of the branch are 21 medical institutions of Ust-Kamenogorsk: East Kazakhstan Regional Hospital, Mother and Child Center, East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Medical Center, East Kazakhstan Regional Multidisciplinary “Oncology and Surgery Center”, East Kazakhstan Regional Skin and Venereological Dispensary, East Kazakhstan Regional Tuberculosis Dispensary, East Kazakhstan Regional Neuropsychiatric Dispensary, City Hospital No. 4 Ust-Kamenogorsk City Hospital No. 2 Ust-Kamenogorsk, KGP on PCV “Primary health care Center No. 1Ust-Kamenogorsk”, Eye Microsurgery Clinic, Polyclinic No. 1 Ust-Kamenogorsk, Vita-1 LLP, Forensic Examination Center, KGKP “U-Ka Ambulance Station”, Em ALU Plus LLP, Rehabilitation center, Family medical Outpatient Clinic No. 7, Altyn Stom LLP, Vostok-Kontrakt LLP, Levoberezhnaya Clinic Institution”. The base of the branch is expanding every year.
There is a dormitory for 30 people at the branch.
The Department of General Medical Practice of Ust-Kamenogorsk was organized in September 2020 on the basis of the Department of internship in general medical practice. It is located at the branch of the Ust-Kamenogorsk branch of SMU, NCJSC.
The purpose of the creation of the Department of General Medical Practice was the training of interns of 6-7 courses, training and training of residents in the specialty “Family Medicine”.
- ensuring the training of qualified, competitive specialists of general practitioners (family doctors) who meet the requirements of the professional educational standard, possess the required amount of knowledge, skills and practical skills for self-conducting preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation measures;
- development of corporate culture and quality culture;

- development of the material and technical base and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
Also, 3 departments have been opened in the Ust-Kamenogorsk branch since 2019: endocrinology, therapy.
