The Pavlodar Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education was opened in 1984. In 2002, the medical faculty of the Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy was opened, in 2009 it was transformed into the Pavlodar branch of the Semey State Medical University, on the basis of which the training of students from the Pavlodar region began. For the period from 2002 to 2012 there were eight editions: the first in 2005 – 11 students, and in 2012 (the last edition) – 206 students.
A total of 598 people were trained and released. Since 2013, students have been trained in internship, residency and master’s degree. At the moment the contingent students is 461 people: in internship – 332 people, in residency – 122 people, magistracy – 7 people. Residency is held on 13 specialties.
The branch trains medical personnel in specialties: general medicine, also retraining and promotion qualifications on a budgetary and contractual basis. It should be noted that all medical institutions in Pavlodar are included in the list of clinical bases of the branch.
Per this period, 15 dissertations for competition were completed in the Pavlodar branch Candidate of Medical Sciences, 8 doctoral dissertations Medical Sciences and two dissertations for the degree of Doctor of PhD.
