On 24.05.2022, at the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, with the participation of the Faculty of the Department, together with 5th-year students of the Faculty of Dentistry, a round table was held dedicated to the Kazakh referendum on amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the following wording of the question: “Do YOU accept amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, published in the media on May 6, 2022.

The opening speech was made by assistant Nurgozhina M.E., who informed the students that the referendum has many important aspects, the political system can radically change. In total, 56 amendments are being made to 33 articles of the Basic Law of our country. The changes will affect a third of the articles of the Constitution, which is of crucial importance. The Government will create a legal framework for the final transition from a super-presidential model to a presidential republic; redistribution of a number of powers; strengthening the role and raising the status of Parliament; expanding the participation of the population in the governance of the country; strengthening mechanisms for protecting the rights of citizens.

During the round table, the participants actively discussed the upcoming republican referendum and how it will affect the future of our country. At the meeting, the students actively discussed the amendments to be made to the Constitution of the country, shared their thoughts and are ready to actively participate in this event, which will determine the future of Kazakhstan.
