Winter School of Pediatric Rheumatology

Thanks to initiative of the Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Diseases and Rheumatology, pediatric rheumatologist Mrs. T. Rymbayeva the Winter School named «Articular syndrome in pediatrics – from simple to complex» was held from 14th to 25th of November 2022through the ZOOM platform. Residents of specialties – ” Rheumatology adult, children’s”, “Physical medicine and rehabilitation, including children”, “Traumatology adult, children’s” took part to the event.

“Department of Internal Diseases and Rheumatology”, “Department of Pediatrics and Medical Rehabilitology named after Tusupova D.M.”, “Department of Traumatology and Pediatric Surgery” were among organizers of Winter School.

Articular syndrome is one of the most frequent pathological conditions occurring both within the group of rheumatic diseases and beyond. Among diseases (juvenile idiopathic arthritis, reactive arthritis, etc.), it plays a leading role in the clinical picture, in others it is one of the clinical manifestations, which makes it difficult to verify the diagnosis. A particularly serious analysis is required in the debut of the disease, often represented only by arthralgia. This school was held on the principle “from resident to resident”, where residents of different specialties shared information on their profile.

The event was dedicated to the problem of diagnosing articular syndrome among children. Algorithms for its differential diagnosis were presented, the features of the clinical picture of various nosological forms occurring with arthritis were given.

The purpose of this event was to conduct a differential diagnosis of the main rheumatic and non-rheumatic diseases, accompanied by articular syndrome, for the competent conduct and analysis of a physical examination of patients with arthritis and arthralgia.

The opening of the Winter School began with a practical part on the method of general seeing children with arthritis.

The opening of the next meeting began with the speech of the Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Diseases and Rheumatology, pediatric rheumatologist Mrs. T. Rymbayeva, who outlined the schemes of diagnostic search for mono-, oligo-, polyarticular lesions. Further, a resident rheumatologist, 2 years of study from Ust-Kamenogorsk, Ms. N. Mukhametualieva, presented the report “Auto-inflammatory diseases in children (AID)”, introducing in detail a heterogeneous group of genetically determined diseases, which are based on a violation of the regulation of inflammation mechanisms. This topic was chosen for the presentation due to the fact that AIDs in pediatric practice can hide under the guise of fever no genesis, simulating an infectious process or a rheumatic disease.

Resident of the specialty “Rheumatology adult, children’s” Ms. A. Beisengazinova acquainted with the peculiarities of questioning and physical examination of patients with rheumatic diseases, the method of detailed examination of the musculoskeletal system according to the international system pGALS (pediatric Gait Arms Legs and Spine), with the evaluation of the effectiveness of antirheumatic therapy in children with juvenile arthritis according to ACR-pedicriteria.

Further, residents of other specialties made presentations on their topics. So, a 2-year resident traumatologist Alisher Bolatuly made a very interesting report, presenting two clinical cases with Perthes’ Disease.

The report of the residents of the specialty “Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Adults and Children” was presented in creative way with a demonstration of a video on the comprehensive rehabilitation of sick children with arthritis. Ernar Alibek and Damira Dautbekova clearly demonstrated the application of trips on the joints, the use of physiotherapy, kinesitherapy methods on patients.

The reports of the participants of the School, which they prepared at the suggestion of the organizers aroused great interest. In fact, a mini-conference was held, which turned out to useful way of communication and helped residents of various specialties to better navigate the diagnosis of articular syndrome in children.

At the end of the event, the head of the Department of “Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation” Ms. A. Alimbayeva expressed her deep gratitude to the Department of Internal Diseases and Rheumatology for organizing this event,  she also thanked residents for interesting and informative reports.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”128944″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image” lazy_loading=”true”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
