Semey Medical University held a winter school from January 16-21, focusing on the topic “We create culture or does culture create us?” The aim of the event was to enhance students’ understanding of cultural, natural science, and professional fields beyond the scope of their main educational programs.
The winter school featured a master class on the “Culture of critical thinking of medical university students” and intellectual competitions like “Speech culture.” Participants also discussed the question of whether having a higher education is enough to be considered a cultured person. The winter school also introduced students to modern trends in the media field with the master class “Educational Technologies of the 21st Century: Information Culture and Media Education.”
To test students’ knowledge of English culture, the winter school held a quiz “How much do we know about English culture.” The event ended with a conversation on “A new value orientation for the modernization of public consciousness of the people” and a lecture on “Traditional Kazakh culture and the trend of modern society development.”
Lecturers from the Department of General Educational Disciplines, including G.T. Urankhaeva, M.D. Zhorokpaeva, N.M. Abeshova, G.M. Alina, Zh.S. Kusainova, G.K. Tokabaeva, A.B. Bukataeva, Zh.A. Mukhamedzhanova, T.U. Dzhakipova, and K.A. Nurgazy, led the winter school.
Groups 109, 1304, 1305, 1306, 1309, 206 “Dentistry” and 1109, 1212, 1214, 1216, 1124, 1224, 3526 “General Medicine” and 101 “Public Health” actively participated in the winter school.
