Semey Medical University Joins International Consortium for Medical Education

Four Universities from Russia and Kazakhstan Form International Consortium for Medical Education.

The initiative to form an international consortium for medical education belonged to Kazan State Medical University named after Kurashov. Besides KSMU, the consortium includes the I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University (St. Petersburg), Karaganda Medical University (Kazakhstan), and Semey Medical University (Kazakhstan).

On February 15, 2023, the first meeting of the consortium council was held to implement the project “Design and Implementation of an Integrated Educational Program”.

During the meeting, L.M. Mukharyamova – the first Vice-Rector of Kazan SMU, V.P. Riklefs – Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Cooperation of Karaganda Medical University, Z.K. Smailova – Deputy Chairman of the Board for Academic and Educational Work of Semey Medical University, and Z.V. Lopatin – Head of the Educational Management Department of I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University – shared their experiences in developing and implementing integrated educational programs at their respective universities.

The meeting participants outlined the consortium’s work plan, which includes the development of textbooks and teaching materials, the design of joint educational programs, the organization of joint conferences, and academic mobility of teachers.
