On March 15, 2023, teachers of the Department of Molecular Biology and Medical Genetics named after the academician of National Academy of sciences Republic of Kazakhstan Raisov T.K. organized and conducted the 1st stage of the subject Olympiad in the form of testing among 1st year students in the specialty “General Medicine” and “Pediatrics”.
At the first stage, 105 students tested their knowledge and 20 participants with the highest scores passed to the next stage of the subject Olympiad:

On March 17, 2023, the second stage of the subject Olympiad in molecular biology and medical genetics took place in the form of a team competition. 20 participants who passed the 1st stage of the Olympiad were divided into 5 teams by lot and competed with each other. The second stage consisted of 3 parts:
1 – drawing up a pedigree using the genealogical method of studying human genetics, its analysis
2 – competition of captains (blitz survey)
3 – presentation of the scheme of molecular mechanisms of gene expression, matrix syntheses and explanation of their significance in the regulation of metabolic processes in the body.
According to the results of the subject Olympiad, the places were distributed as follows:
1st place – team «Luck-operon» (Haisa Zhanaiym, Gazizova Meruert, Muratbekova Perizat, Aitkaliev Bakhtiar)
2nd place – team «Supressor» (Bolatkyzy Gulim, Koshakhan Murat, Atambek Dana, Bespalova Anastasia)
3rd place – team «DNA» (Maxim Kembayev, Beken Akbota, Talshyn Esenova, Aziza Igisinova)
4th place – team «Chaperones» (Adalkanuly Kaysar, Akhylbaeva Ademi, Nurmanova Yerkezhan, Oralbekova Dina).
5th place – team «Dominant genes» (Akhmetkhanova Guldana, Asyl Akbota, Karpacheva Adela, Kenzhebekov Yerasyl)
All participants of the Olympiad were awarded valuable prizes with the support of the university trade union!
