Semey Medical University recently held a round table discussion focused on the development of social and humanitarian knowledge in medical education. The event brought together representatives from several educational institutions, including SMU, Alikhan Bokeikhan University, D. Kalmatayev State Higher Medical College, and Semey Medical College.
During the round table, important issues related to the status of socio-humanitarian disciplines in vocational education, teaching humanities in non-core educational institutions, and the relationship between the humanization of medical education and the quality of education were discussed. The participants also addressed the adaptation of humanities courses to the professional specifics of the university, as well as innovative methods and approaches that can make socio-humanitarian knowledge more attractive.
The importance of multilingualism for medical specialists and critical thinking for students in medical educational institutions was emphasized. Additionally, the participants discussed the advantages and disadvantages of online tools for distance learning in social and humanitarian disciplines. The functional capabilities of online tools used to obtain constructive feedback and effective interactive interaction between teachers and students during distance learning were considered.
The round table provided an excellent platform for exchanging experience and opinions. The participants hope that the results of the discussion will contribute to a better understanding of what modern medical education should look like and what changes are needed to ensure high-quality training of qualified medical specialists.
