In 2023, On September 27, at the Central Ambulance and Emergency Aid Station of the Abay Region, a seminar was held for medical workers on the topic: “Influenza and ARVI: diagnosis and treatment at the primary care stage.”
Infectious disease specialists highlighted the epidemiological situation regarding the incidence of ARVI and influenza in the world, the Republic of Kazakhstan and in the Abay region. The speakers recalled that people’s susceptibility to influenza is absolute and the disease can be either mild or severe and even fatal. Hospitalizations and deaths occur mainly in high-risk groups.
The clinical issues, diagnosis and prevention of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza, and the peculiarities of the course of these infections in people at risk were discussed in detail. Emphasis was placed on the fact that the most effective way to prevent the disease is vaccination and that WHO recommends annual vaccination for the following population groups: pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy, children aged 6 months to 5 years, older people (over 65 years), people with chronic health problems, healthcare workers.
