On 21.11.2023, students of group 101, 201 «Nursing» visited together with curators Kisina R.M., Bolatova M.B. the Regional Museum of Local Lore in Semey.

One of the oldest and largest museums in Kazakhstan – the Regional Museum of Local Lore in Semey was established in 1883 on the initiative of political exiles-people’s Volunteers.

The great poet Abai, philosopher and thinker Shakarim, world-class writer Mukhtar Auezov contributed to the museum’s activities at various times. Throughout its history, the museum has changed its location eight times. The last move took place in 1978 and to this day the Regional Museum of Local Lore is located in the building of the former House of the Governor-General. During the years of revolution and civil confrontation, the building was called the House of Freedom. Here, in 1917, at a meeting with the residents of the city, the leader of the Alash movement, Alikhan Bokeikhanov, delivered a keynote speech. In the same year, the first Semipalatinsk regional Congress of Kazakhs was held here, where the issue was considered and a decision was made on the formation of autonomy.

As it is known from the history of the museum, the museum’s fund originates from private collections collected by political exiles and political emigrants. Gaining more and more volume, at the beginning of the new twentieth century – by the time of the establishment of the Semipalatinsk Sub-Department of the West Siberian Department of the Russian Geographical Society — there were 2,489 items in the museum’s collection. Most of them were archaeological exhibits (427 units) related to the early and middle ages of history. They still make up the golden fund of the museum.

The Regional Museum of Local Lore of Semey also houses the exposition hall “Semey during the Great Patriotic War”, located in the building of the city Palace of Culture, and branches of the museum in the village of Karaul of the Abai district, the village of Urzhar of the Urzhar district and the city of Ayagoz of the East Kazakhstan region.

The students were satisfied with the visit to the local history museum.[/vc_column_text]
