Volunteering is considered as one of the real ways of moral development for youth and the education of humanism. At the university level, volunteering is identified as a viable alternative to other types of extracurricular activities for students. Young peoples’ participation in volunteering is especially important. This fact is gradually beginning to be recognized not only by members of the charitable community, but also by university teachers.

The main strategic goal of the volunteer movement is to unite the efforts of students and the public in solving the problems of humanizing the student environment and providing comprehensive socio-psychological assistance and support to categories of citizens in need.

The Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology SMU NСJSC traditionally engages students in volunteer work during extracurricular hours. During the course in hepatology under the guidance of the head of the department Kaskabayeva A.Sh. and academic mentor Professor Zhumadilova Z.K., second year Residents-gastroenterologists, Ust-Kamenogorsk’s Keukenova M.M. and Paizrakhmanova S.Zh. visited the Kamkor nursing home on December 13th, 2023, having previously discussed with the director Sydykova Sh.A. The purpose of the visit was a meeting with patients of this institution. The introduction took place with the participation of medical worker S.Zh. Ganieva, who introduced the residents. 54 people were examined, and all were given recommendations for examination and treatment. Volunteers answered all questions regarding health and medicine. After the inspection, a sincere conversation took place. Everyone was congratulated on the upcoming holidays. We received positive feedback with words of gratitude from the administration of the institution. Volunteers also received satisfaction from the meeting. The smiles on the faces of the elderly brought them great joy. The “blessing” given by them will remain in the memory for a long time.
