On January 29, 2024, under the guidance of PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dermatovenerology and Immunology of the SMU, NCJSC, Maukaeva S.B., a lecture (on the ZOOM platform) in English on the prevention of measles, viral hepatitis A for students of the foreign department of the «SMU» NCJSC,was organized on the topic: “Measles”, “Viral hepatitis”.

The lecture materials provided data on the ways of infection, clinical symptoms of viral hepatitis A, methods of diagnosis, treatment and preventive measures. Viral hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by one of the 5 hepatitis viruses: A, B, C, D and E. These viruses are transmitted in different ways: hepatitis A and E — through contaminated food and water; hepatitis B — through unsafe blood and other body fluids; hepatitis C — mainly through infected blood and hepatitis D — as an additional infection in the presence of hepatitis B.

The incidence of hepatitis A in Kazakhstan has increased 4.7 times. In the first nine months of 2023, almost 1.5 thousand people fell ill, most of them adults. Hepatitis infections are common all over the world.

If you suspect infection with the hepatitis virus, you should urgently consult a doctor. Do not prolong the disease to the stage when treatment will be difficult, lengthy and expensive. The modern level of diagnosis and treatment makes it possible to identify and combat viral hepatitis. Timely detection of parenteral hepatitis and their effective treatment is the key to recovery and the absence of complications.

At the end of the lecture, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dermatovenerology and Immunology of the SMU, NCJSC, Maukaeva S.B. answered the questions of the audience.
