Residents’ experience in the work of the “School of Hepatologist”

As part of the activities from the “Scientific Gastroenterology School” and the tasks implementation of the Improvement Project of the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology “Improving gastroenterological and hepatological care in the conditions of  the university hospital of “SMU” NCJSC, preventive work is carried out for residents studying in the specialty “Adult and Pediatric Gastroenterology” under the guidance of Professor Zhumadilova Z.K. and associate professor Kaskabayeva A.Sh. in conducting preventive health schools. The task was set to evaluate the effectiveness of the “Hepatologist School” for patients with metabolically associated fatty liver disease, to increase the level of patient knowledge about risk factors, to increase patient adherence to treatment, thereby improving the quality of life.

A healthy lifestyle, maintaining the patient’s desire for health and following the doctor’s recommendations and prescriptions is the main task in the doctor-patient relationship. For classes in health schools, it is necessary to involve not only the patient, but also his family members. Training is carried out according to the program developed at the department; a questionnaire survey of patients on risk factors for the development of fatty liver hepatosis has been introduced. Residents carry out individual and group conversations: giving up bad habits, normalizing nutrition and physical exercises, with handouts and an explanation of keeping a health control diary.
