An eastern proverb says, “If your plans are designed for a year, plant millet, if your plans are designed for decades, plant trees, if your plans are designed for centuries, educate people.” In the specialty “Obstetrics and gynecology for adults, children”, 12 clinical mentors work together with residents at various educational bases, 8 of them in Semey, 4 in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Clinical mentors also work in the Pavlodar branch. The clinical mentors are the heads. doctors, heads of departments, doctors with the highest category, such as Vinnikova E.V., Yamusheva N.S., Baymukhametov E.S., Zhakupova B.Sh., Sailauova M.Zh., Udalova N.M., Meyirmanova J.S., Burtebaeva E.T., etc. A clinical mentor is a person. which helps the resident to develop clinical thinking, trains communication with patients and their families, trains them to make decisions in emergency situations and shares invaluable experience gained over the years, helps to form practical skills of residents within the framework of professional competencies. Due to the fact that residents of the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology are trained in a very important mission, and this is the preservation and support of the reproductive function of women, not a little effort and attention has been allocated to their training. Each resident, working with a clinical mentor, conducts daily rounds, prescribes a treatment plan, taking into account certain characteristics of the patient’s body, delivers babies, freely assists in abdominal operations, independently performs small operations, leads patients not only at the outpatient level, but also works in an emergency room.
