Summer School “Clinical Practicum” at the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology

From June 3 to 7, 2024, the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology conducted the Summer School “Clinical Practicum” for 2nd to 5th-year international students. The event was organized by Assistant Petrovа Y.V., Head of Department Kaskabaeva A.Sh., and Academic Dean Muzdubaeva Zh.E.

Every day, students were involved in patient management in the gastroenterology and cardio-rheumatology departments of UH NCJSC SMU. Under the guidance of instructors, they conducted patient interviews, palpation, percussion, and auscultation. They also learned to document patient histories and develop diagnostic and treatment plans. Additionally, they participated in rounds and consultations with Professor Ivanova R.L. and Head of Department Kaskabaeva A.Sh. Special attention was given to the development of communication skills and language competencies of international students.

The theoretical part of the program included the discussion of complex topics such as “Acquired Heart Defects,” “Liver Damage Syndromes,” and “Differential Diagnosis of Chest Pain.”

At the conclusion of the Summer School, students received certificates of participation and provided positive feedback. This event exemplified successful student-faculty interaction, promoting practical training and the development of key skills in internal medicine.
