On february 26, 2025, a curatorial session on the topic Ludomania: gambling addiction and its prevention” was held with the participation of interns from group 701, specializing in pediatrics, and second-year endocrinology residents. The event was organized by assistant Bektar Zh.S. of the department of pediatrics and medical rehabilitation named after Tusupova.
During the session, the prerequisites for the emergence of gambling addiction were discussed. Particular attention was paid to risk factors, mechanisms of addiction formation, and the stages of pathological craving for gambling. It was emphasized that seeking professional help not only mitigates the negative physiological and emotional consequences associated with withdrawal from gambling but also helps individuals understand the underlying causes of their addictive behavior. However, a crucial prerequisite for successful treatment is the individual’s recognition of the problem and willingness to undergo therapy.
The session was conducted in a discussion format, incorporating the screening of video materials and the presentation of various real-life cases sourced from publicly available materials.
