The vivarium is a structural subdivision of Semey Medical University NCJSC (SMU, NCJSC), established for the first time in 1964. The vivarium is intended for the maintenance and breeding of laboratory animals used in scientific work (to perform scientific experiments) and in the educational process (to ensure visibility) University.
The Vivarium carries out its work under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chairman of the Board – Rector for Science and Strategic Development.
The main objectives of the Vivarium are to ensure compliance with the bioethical rules of keeping and working with animals, strict implementation of standard operating procedures in experimental and laboratory studies. Strengthening the position of SMU, NCJSC as the leading scientific and educational complex of the country, corresponding to international standards of scientific research based on the latest achievements of medical science and technology, and the best research projects. Promotion of the developments of SMU, NCJSC in Kazakhstan and foreign markets of scientific and experimental technologies, ensuring the competitiveness of the services and activities implemented by SMU, NCJSC. Development of fundamental and applied scientific research of medicine on the basis of cooperation with leading industrial organizations, scientific centers. Equipping the Vivarium with modern laboratory equipment, breeding of laboratory and linear animals, the use of all resources for educational and research purposes.
