The Department of Human Anatomy was organized in 1953. The first head of the Department of Normal Anatomy was an associate professor, and then Professor I.M.Turk, a graduate of the Minsk Medical Institute. I.M. Turk invested a lot of effort in the organization of the department, in the management of the scientific work of the staff, in the organization of the educational process and educational work with students. From the first days of the department’s work, the staff under the leadership of I.M.Turk made a lot of efforts to create an anatomical museum, which has now become not only the property of staff and students, but also of the entire region. Turkish headed the department from 1953 to 1962. From 1964 to 1971, the department was headed by Associate Professor Fyodor Petrovich Plyakin, in 1971-1973, the duties of the head of the department were assigned to Associate Professor N.B. Absalyamova, MD. Professor, Nina Ivanovna Aryamkina, headed the Department of Normal Human Anatomy in 1973-1977, 1979-1987. The first employees of the department who worked under the guidance of I.M.Turk were: associate professors Yakov Mikhailovich Krinitsky, Semyon Lvovich Drach; assistants: Z.A.Potemkina, N.B.Absalyamova, F.Z.Prosolenko, K.K.Vlasova, N.I.Popova-Aryamkina, Zh.M.Bayldinova, T.I.Morozova.
The department under the name of Operative surgery and Topographic Anatomy was organized in 1955. The first head of the department was associate professor Y.M. Krinitsky.
From 1956 to 1959, the department was headed by Associate Professor V.K. Sobolev. From 1959 to 1976, the head of the department was Associate Professor V.I. Koshkin.
Subsequently, from 1976 to 1982, the department was headed by Professor N.A. Khlopov, rector of the Semipalatinsk Medical Institute.
Under the leadership of N.A. Khlopov, one doctoral thesis (V.I. Nagibin) and 5 candidate dissertations (A.B. Burshakbayev, P.S. Sychev, A.Z. Dyusupov, R.M. Arslanov, V.V. Gnoev) were defended. Since 1982, the head of the department was Ph.D., Associate Professor V.T. Goncharov.
Much attention was paid to academic work. So, in 1982, the authors N.A. Khlopov, N.I. Aryamkina, V.T. Goncharov, V.I. Nagibin published lectures for students on operative surgery with topographic anatomy. At the request of practitioners, the department published a monograph: “Topographic and anatomical foundations of acupuncture” (authors N.A. Khlopov, F.S. Sharifeslanov, L.S. Rybakov, V.I. Nagibin, V.T. Goncharov).
In 1992, the atlas “Surgical Instruments” was published in the state and Russian languages. In 2001, a course of lectures on operative surgery with topographic anatomy was published for students of the II- IV courses (V.T. Goncharov), the atlas “Herniation” in the state language for students of the II- IV courses (N.N. Nauryzov).
Since 2007, senior lecturer N.N. Nurlan has been appointed head of the course.
In 2008, A.K. Bukatov, a graduate of the Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy, was appointed responsible for the discipline.
Since 2011, the course of Topographic Anatomy and operative Surgery has been combined with the Department of Human Anatomy.
In 2018 There was a revival of the Department of Topographic and Clinical Anatomy, initiated by the rector of GMU G. Semey Zhunusov E.T. The purpose of the revival is to improve the quality of students’ knowledge of clinical anatomy and operative surgery. The department was headed by the acting head of the department, Master Bukatov Askar Kenzhebekovich.
2022 there was a reorganization and renaming of departments for the 2022-2023 academic year of the Department of Anatomy, Histology, Topographic and Clinical Anatomy named after Professor N.A. Khlopov to the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Topographic Anatomy named after Professor N.A. Khlopov. The head of the department is S.K. Kozhanova.
The Histology Department was founded in 1953. The first head of the department was the honored worker of the Kazakh SSR, professor Predtechensky S.A. (1953-1968). In subsequent years, the department was headed by professor Pogorelov Yu.V., docent Rakhmetov A.S., docent Kudaibergenov K.K., docent Temirbekov D.A., acting docent Uzbekova S.E., docent Tokesheva A.M. In different years worked at the department docent Golovneva V.I., docent Ganifeld T.N., professor Mukanov K.N., teacher Alkenova K.S., senior laboratory assistant Zhukeshova F.M., laboratory assistant Kasenova Zh.B., laboratory assistant Ualkhanova Zh.K.
Currently, the staff of the department includes the head teacher, docent, Tokesheva A.M., acting professor Musainova A.K., docent Temirbekov D.A., teacher Shakirova M.E., teacher Polatova B.S., teacher Kabykenova A.R., teacher Akhmetova A.M., laboratory assistant Isataeva A.T.
Teachers of the department take an active part in the modernization and implementation of educational programs taking into account interdisciplinary integration in bachelor’s degree specialties.
Tasks, functions:

- Educational and methodological support of the educational process, including electronic educational resources of its own publication.
- Continuous professional development of the teaching staff of the department with the subsequent implementation of learning outcomes in the educational process.

- Educational work with students aimed at comprehensive personal development; involvement of students in volunteer activities.
