According to the order of the Ministry of Health of the Kazakh SSR No. 561 dated 29.08.1972, the department of vascular surgery was opened. Then there was a transitional period of development. Active specialists who worked during this period were cardiac surgeon, Ph.D., associate Professor of the Department of Hospital Surgery Bessonov A.M., associate Professor, Ph.D., surgeon Yagudin A.M. Since 1975, after completing an internship in surgery, he worked as a resident, and then since 1984 as head of the Department of Vascular Surgery Masalimov Esen Omarkhanovich. During this period, the final formation of vascular surgery took place – operations on the aorta, extracranial vessels, repeated reconstructive operations and operations on the visceral branches of the aorta, complex phlebological operations were introduced, and the last heart operation at that time, mitral commissurotomy was performed in 1996 by Masalimov E.O. together with Bessonov A.M. Operations for congenital malformations of the main vessels, an open arterial duct and aortic coarctation were performed before the opening of coronary surgery.
On behalf of the Rector of Semey State Medical University, Tolebay Kosiyabekovich Rakhypbekov (rector from 2007 to 2017), a project for the development of cardiac surgery at Semey State Medical University MC began in 2009, Altai Akhmetkalievich Dyusupov was appointed project manager, at that time Vice-rector for Development and Organizational Issues, MD, Professor, angiosurgeon of the highest category, working in the Department of Vascular Surgery since 2005. For the development of cardiac surgery from the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center of Astana, Bulanov Bekzhan Serikbosynovich, a graduate of Semey State Medical University, who began his work as a resident of the vascular surgery Department of Semey State Medical University. On April 4, 2013, the project for the development of cardiac surgery in the MC of Semey State Medical University was successfully implemented, for the first time in the history of Semey city and the University, a department of cardiovascular surgery, an endovascular laboratory were opened, open heart surgery was performed independently – aorto–coronary bypass surgery in conditions of artificial circulation, coronary angiography, stenting of coronary and peripheral arteries, the beginning of The “Acute Coronary Syndrome” service will function around the clock.
Training of highly qualified, competitive specialists, training in the basics of angiosurgery, who will be able to work independently, contributing to improving the health of the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan through continuous education using international standards of diagnosis and treatment.
The purpose of the training is to train a specialist in the profile “Adult, pediatric Angiosurgery”, as well as “Adult, pediatric cardiac surgery”, who are able to independently fully supervise and treat patients with common angiosurgical and cardiac surgical diseases in hospital and outpatient settings, as well as diagnose rare angiosurgical disorders.
