We had a great chance to become an exchange students from October 21, 2019 till January 24, 2020 in Başkent Üniversitesi of the Republic of Turkey, Ankara.

We selected a cardio-respiratory system clerkship that lasted 11 weeks and an anesthesiology cycle (3 weeks). The first two weeks of education, professors from the departments of cardiology, ENT, KVS and “Pulmonology” explained to us all the theoretical lectures, the knowledge of which was consolidated by formative assessment (5%).

Over the next 9 weeks, our knowledge was practiced in the clinic of Başkent Üniversitesi. We applied practical knowledge in 4 different classes: ÖTD, GBG, ÖP и visit (3% in total).

• ÖTD (öğrenci teorik dersi), where we analyzed clinical situations, selected the necessary diseases according to one or two symptoms, and then carried out differential diagnostics.
• GBG (girişimsel becerilerin geri bildirimi), similar to our OSCE, where we learned step by step to conduct a physical examination of the cardiovascular system, to be able to record and evaluate ECG, take blood from a radial artery for gas composition, use of spirometry, Reversible test, defibrillator and much more.
• ÖP (öğrenci poliklinik), where each student under the distribution was attached to his teacher / doctor in the clinic. So, under the guidance of doctors, we received patients, collecting an anamnesis of the disease and life, performed a physical examination, prescribed tests and appropriate treatment.
• Visit, we divided into three mini-groups of 3-4 people, as usually professors assigned three patients from a hospital or intensive care unit to a group. We interviewed patients, making an anamnesis of the disease and life, performed a physical examination, looked at the presence of abnormalities in laboratory and instrumental studies and analyzed the treatment plan. Then, we reported to the teacher.
• Between these classes, our program also included observation of CABG (coronary artery bypass Greft) in angiography

At the end of the clerkship on the cardiovascular system, we passed the oral (52%) and written (40%) exam in KEYPS.
