The effectiveness of on-the-job training of residents and their professional development largely depend on the organization of academic and clinical mentoring.
To involve residents in the process of solving problematic clinical situations that require an interprofessional approach, InterProfessional Peer Training has been introduced into the educational process at the Department of Internal Diseases and Rheumatology. The essence of the method is to conduct a training concilium for the analysis of a clinical case by residents of different specialties.
On January 24, an open lesson was held for residents on IPPT technology at the «Hepatology» module. Topic «Hepatorenal syndrome». Residents of the «Gastroenterology» and «Nephrology» programs participated in the concilium. The facilitator was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Zhumadilova Zauresh Kenzhekhanovna. Resident gastroenterologists Muzdubaev Daulet, Bagdatkyzy Fariza and gastroenterologist, PhD Shakhanova Aizhan Tungyshkhanovna presented a clinical case on the topic. Resident nephrologists Bolatbekov Sanzhar and Kurmangazynova Zhuldyz presented information on modern approaches to diagnosis and treatment, outpatient management of patients with hepatorenal syndrome. An analysis of the patient’s treatment was presented by the resident nephrologist Bagenova Ardak under the guidance of a mentor, Ph.D., nephrologist Botabaeva Ainur Serikzhanovna. During the discussion, residents were asked a number of questions. Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Alibekova Rabiga Izetovna and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kapanova Gulzhakhan Kadyrovna gave additional recommendations on the management of patients with this pathology.
Residents and mentors expressed their opinion about the IPPT technology. The value of the method was noted for developing the skills of diagnostic search and treatment, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient, for improving the skill of working with valid data sources.
As observers at the open lesson there were Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Therapy Esimbekova Elmira Iranovna and a member of the Council for Academic Quality, Assistant of the Department of Simulation and Educational Technologies Kovylina Regina Aleksandrovna. Observers also gave positive feedback.
