The increase in the number of ticks with the onset of spring and their appearance even in city parks causes concern due to the risk of infection with tick-borne infections such as tick-borne encephalitis, borreliosis, rickettsiosis and others. Tick-borne encephalitis is the most severe disease on this list. Most often, tick-borne encephalitis occurs in the form of a febrile illness, but a more severe course is also possible, which can be fatal or severe complications.
On the territory of the East Kazakhstan region, bordering our region, natural foci of tick-borne encephalitis are Glubokovsky, Zaisansky, Zyryanovsky, Katon-Karagaysky, Kokpektinsky (Samara region), Ulansky, Shemonaikhinsky districts, the vicinity of the cities of Ridder and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
In 2023, on March 31, a seminar on the prevention of tick-borne infections: tick-borne encephalitis and tick-borne typhus was held at the Auezov substation for emergency medical care in the Abay region. The speakers of the seminar were residents of the 102nd group of the specialty “Family Medicine” and interns of the GP of the 616th group of SMU, NCJSC. Within the framework of the seminar, the future doctors covered the epidemiology, clinic, diagnosis of tick-borne encephalitis, tick-borne typhus, with a special emphasis on specific and non-specific prevention of tick-borne encephalitis.
The workshop participants received information about existing vaccine preparations for protection against tick-borne encephalitis, their effectiveness and application patterns, as well as measures aimed at preventing tick attacks and the necessary actions if a tick bite did occur.
