On April 8-9, 2023, the republican debate tournament “SALAUAT CUP IX” was held at the Semey Medical University, organized as part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the university. 32 factions were selected from the registered 95 teams. The participants of the tournament were representatives of students from the Eurasian National University, Nazarbayev University, “Toraighyrov University” NCJSC , Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after A.Margulan NCJSC, “Kostanay Regional University named after A.Baitursynov”, D.Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, S.Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Shakarim University, “Alikhan Bokeikhan University” EI, North Kazakhstan State University named after M.Kozybayev, Turan University, Pedagogical College named after M.Auyezova.
The objectives of the tournament are the development of public speaking skills among young people, the formation of critical thinking and teamwork skills, discussion of current problems of modern society, popularization of the debate movement.
Within the framework of the tournament, speakers discussed important issues in the field of natural sciences and humanities, the development of genetic engineering, health protection, education, social support for youth, etc.
In a two-day competitive debate tournament, 4 factions reached the final. The winners of the republican tournament were:
1st place and a cash prize of 250,000 tenge – Nurtas Kuzdeubayev (graduate of M.S. Narikbayev KAZGUU University), Doldinov Bogenbai (graduate of ENU);
Finalists:
Amir Omirzhanov (ENU student), Sania Risbekova (Nazarbayev University student) – 100 000 tenge;
Tursynbaeva Ayaulym (student of Shakarim University), Akhatkyzy Binur (student of Turan University) – 100 000 tenge;
Laura Maratkyzy, Kabdylkyzy Nurbibi (graduates of ENU) – 100 000 tenge;
“The best speaker” – Omirzhanov Amir (ENU student) – 50,000 tenge
“The best judge” – Kydyrmoldin Eldar (“SMU”, NCJSC) – 50,000 tenge
The winners and participants were awarded with cash prizes, cups and diplomas of the “Semey Medical University”, NCJSC.
