In order to monitor and control training of residents in specialty “Gastroenterology for adults, children ” on clinical bases the feedback survey among clinical mentors of hospitals in Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey, where residents worked during academic year was conducted. In these hospitals the residents worked during the academic year under the mentorship of clinical mentors, who are experienced and qualified doctors of practical health care. On specialty “Gastroenterology for adults, children” at present time are trained 4 residents of 1st year of training and 4 residents of 2nd year of training, from them 2 residents are trained on base of Gastroenterology Department of University Hospital “Medical University of Semey” NCJSC, 4 residents – on base of branch University in Ust-Kamenogorsk city and 2 residents – on base of branch University in Pavlodar city.
Analysis of feedback from clinical preceptors showed that residents on specialty “Gastroenterology for adults, children ” irrespective of place of internship showed themselves as competent, conscientious specialists, who showed their clinical thinking and striving for self-improvement and continuing professional education. The residents possess clinical skills in the examination and treatment of patients, they apply their theoretical knowledge in practice and actively participate in clinical discussions and councils, in discussions and implementation of new modern methods of diagnosis and treatment. In communication with patients and colleagues, they adhered to the principles of medical ethics and deontology.
Constant support and academic mentoring from the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology of ” Semey Medical University” NCJSC and clinical mentoring from experienced doctors of practical healthcare allowed to achieve a good level of training of residents on specialty “Gastroenterology for adults, children” regardless of the place of the residency.
