On October 27, 2023, as part of the “Silver University” project, an event was held for participants of the city longevity center on the topic: “Nordic walking as a method of healing.”The organizer and presenter of this event was a teacher of the Department of Physiological Disciplines named after T.A. Nazarova, Master of Medicine A.K. Kanatbekova. First, a presentation was given about Nordic walking as a method of healing. Nordic walking with poles, which appeared relatively recently, has captivated many residents of our city for good reason. Indeed, it is difficult to overestimate its complex impact on the human body of any age. This kind of walking has many names – it is called Nordic, Norwegian, Nordic, Finnish walking with poles – however, it is the same type of walking. Nordic walking with poles is a sport of walking that requires the use of special poles, similar to ski poles.
Doctors have published serious studies indicating the high health-improving potential of Nordic walking. The fact is that when walking with poles, the muscles of the back and shoulder girdle are trained very well, while, for example, when running, the muscles of the upper half of the body are little involved. After the presentation, A.K. Kanatbekova demonstrated the practical part on willing pensioners. All pensioners took part in Nordic walking exercises with enthusiasm and great interest. Each of the participants in the longevity center was charged with energy, optimism and health after performing the exercises. A wonderful event organized by the Department of Physiological Disciplines named after T.A. Nazarova ended with a friendly tea party!
